Bagley Property

Alton, NH

The Lakes Region Conservation Trust is pleased to announce the conservation of ~54 acres of field and forest land on Halls Hill Road in Alton. Thank you to the Bagley family for their extraordinarily generous gift of land!

The conservation of this property permanently protects high-quality habitat and farmland, contributes to water quality protection, and provides a scenic roadside along Halls Hill Road. The easterly portion of the property contains a mix of hardwoods with white and red pine, while the westerly half of the property includes open rolling fields with extensive views to the south and east. The field area encompasses prime farmland and farmland of statewide significance due to its soil. It contains high-quality habitat for the black-billed cuckoo, eastern whip-poor-will, and bobolink, and LRCT plans to continue managing this area for grassland bird habitat.

Thank You!

We are particularly grateful to Earl Bagley and Kelly Marshall for working with us on the conservation of this property and to the Alton Conservation Commission for their generous contribution in support of the project.
