Join Lakes Region Conservation Trust in partnership with the Newfound Lake Region Association for a guided hike to explore the beauty of the Sugarloaf Ridge – Goose Pond Conservation Area in Alexandria. This property includes 400 magnificent acres overlooking Newfound Lake and encompasses the landmark ridgeline of Big and Little Sugarloaf and much of the shoreline of pristine Goose Pond. This land includes unspoiled rugged and diverse habitat.
Participants will climb the Yellow Trail, reaching Little Sugarloaf (with views) in about .8 miles, descend a bit and then climb a steep slope to Big Sugarloaf (also views) at about the 2 mile point. After a nice break on Big Sugarloaf, we will backtrack to the Orange Trail and descend it to beautiful Goose Pond, taking the Red Trail around part of the lake. Finally, we will return to our cars by the Orange Trail. Total distance is approximately 5 miles.
