Fogg Hill Conservation Area Hike

June 1, 9 am to 12 pm

Join us for a guided hike to explore the Fogg Hill Conservation Area. Bernie Volz, an LRCT volunteer and local resident, will lead participants on this moderate hike (approximately 2 miles). This property in West Center Harbor encompasses the Fogg Hill Bog prime wetlands complex, the summit of Fogg Hill, significant ecological areas, and 235 acres of wildlife habitat within the town’s largest unfragmented forest block – see the Foog Hill Conservation Area Trail map at https://lrct.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Fogg-Hill-Conservation-Area.pdf for more details.

We will leave from the LRCT Fogg Hill parking lot on Piper Hill Road in Center Harbor and will take the Fogg Hill Trail (yellow blazes) to the summit of Fogg Hill, and return via the same trail. If weather and conditions permit and there is interest, we may take the Bog Trail on the return instead – this would lengthen the hike by about ½ of a mile, walking on Piper Hill Rd to return to the parking lot.

Details:

The hike will depart at 9:00 am and return at approximately 12:00 pm.  We ask that participants plan to arrive by 8:45 am to register and prepare for the hike; the meeting location is described above. Please dress appropriately, wear hiking boots, bring insect repellant and water (and a snack).
