National Water Dances

National Water Dances is a nationwide initiative to bring communities together using dance and creative movement to raise awareness about issues facing our nation’s waters. The event will take place at Hesky Park on Meredith Bay on April 20. This is the first year that New Hampshire will be represented in National Water Dances.

  • Join hundreds of people across the United States in a live-streamed event 
  • Celebrate our lakes and waterways with See Change Dance and NWD Projects
  • Learn about the issues impacting the health of our watershed
  • Discover how to be good caretakers of the beautiful waters that sustain our lives


  • 12:30 p.m. Guided Walk from Community Park To Hesky Park
  • 3:30 p.m. Welcome and Water Blessing at Hesky Park
  • 4:00 p.m. Community Dance Performance with Live-stream

The live-stream may be viewed at beginning at 4p.m. Attendees are invited to gather at the picnic pavilion for a brief Q&A session with our Community Partners following the performance including Lakes Region Conservation Trust, Lake Winnipesaukee Association, NH Dance Collaborative, Diamond Rolfing and Movement, Unbound Dance Academy, the Town of Meredith Public Works, and the Greater Meredith Program.

Interested in Getting Involved?

We are looking for 10-20 (or more) community members to join the opening and closing Movement Choir for a live-streamed performance taking place at Hesky Park in Meredith on April 20 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. The movement is easy to learn. No prior dance experience is needed. We are also looking for female singers of any age to sing the opening water blessing. Community Service Credit Is Available for High School Students!

  2. April 14 Congregational Church of Laconia, 18 Veterans Square, Laconia:
    • 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Community Movement Choir Rehearsal*
  3. April 20 Hesky Park, 327 Daniel Webster Hwy., Meredith:
    • 2-3 p.m. Final Rehearsal

* Only one rehearsal to learn choreography is required
