Have you ever wondered how a Naturalist begins to recognize the trees in our forests? Are you looking to expand your knowledge of the lands we live on? Just want to get outside for the morning and visit one of LRCT’s beautiful properties? If you said yes to any of these, you won’t want to miss out on this guided excursion.
Join LRCT AmeriCorps Member Graham Hovel at the serene and mystical Cotton-Hurd Conservation Area for a Basics of Tree and Shrub I.D. hike. You will learn the fundamentals of tree and shrub identification and what different species can tell you about the lay of the land. This is an easy-to-moderate hike that takes you along the ambling Cotton-Hurd Brook and into a lesser-known section of the Belknap Range.

We ask that if you sign up, please plan on attending the full length of the event. Because space is limited, please notify mohare@lrct.org or call the office at (603)253-3301 three days before the event if you are unable to attend so that we can extend the opportunity to others. Thank you!
Additional Information
Bring/Wear: Bring water and snacks, if needed. Wear hiking boots/appropriate trail footwear and dress appropriately for the weather. Bug spray and sunscreen are recommended.
Cost: All LRCT-guided events are free
Children’s Participation: Please check in with us in advance if you are considering bringing young children on a guided excursion to ensure the trip is appropriate for their skill level.
Dog Policy: To ensure the safety and comfort of participants, we are not able to accommodate dogs on our trips.
Cancellation: In the event of inclement weather, participants will be notified of the cancellation via email by 5:00 pm Tuesday, October 6th.
