John M. and Eileen R. Weeks Conservation Project
Your help is needed to conserve the 65-acre John M. and Eileen R. Weeks property located on Belknap Mountain Road in Gilford, NH. LRCT has been awarded a $5,000 challenge grant from the Samuel P. Pardoe Foundation as we work to conserve the 65-acre John M. and Eileen R. Weeks property located on Gunstock Mountain. In partnership with the Town of Gilford, LRCT needs to raise $145,000 in order to purchase and conserve this property. We hope to complete this project by early summer!
The Weeks property abuts 9,000 acres of existing conservation land in and adjacent to the Belknap Mountain Range, including the Muehlke Family Tree Farm.
The land lies within a Wellhead Protection Area to a public water supply source for the Town of Gilford and plays a significant role in maintaining the quality of ground and surface waters in the Sanders Bay Sub-watershed, which drains into the Winnipesaukee River Watershed.
If you would like to help conserve the John M. and Elieen R. Weeks property, please consider making a gift to help us meet the early summer closing deadline.
LRCT’s project fundraising goal is $145,425, which includes the purchase price established by an appraisal, transaction costs, and funds that will be added to LRCT’s Stewardship Fund. This Fund is used to support stewardship, monitoring, and defense for LRCT’s owned conservation properties and conservation easements.
