About the Lakes Region Conservation Corps
The Lakes Region Conservation Corps (LRCC) is an AmeriCorps state service program that develops skills and experiences for conservation professionals by providing hands-on conservation work experience and numerous certifications. The program is based out of the Squam Lakes Association. Conservation Corps members are a driving force behind many of the conservation efforts of New Hampshire’s Lakes Region. LRCT is one of several Host Sites for the LRCC program.
LRCT's Conservation Land Stewards
LRCT’s Conservation Land Stewards are a part of the LRCC – AmeriCorps Program. Land Stewards are an integral part of LRCT’s conservation mission and work with LRCT from May through October. Members receive training in land conservation methods, conservation and recreational land management, and education and outreach, and will work on a variety of projects, including:
- Maintaining LRCT’s 95+ miles of trails,
- Removing terrestrial invasive plants,
- Assisting and leading guided hikes and paddles,
- Monitoring LRCT preserves and conservation easements,
- Working on special property management projects, and
- Organizing and conducting volunteer work days.
Housing is provided at the Mead Base Conservation Center, located in the northern part of the Lakes Region, at the foot of the White Mountains.
