AmeriCorps

About

The Lakes Region Conservation Trust is proud to be partnering with the Lakes Region Conservation Corps (LRCC) as an AmeriCorps host site, currently hosting three half-term members.

The Lakes Region Conservation Corps is a New Hampshire AmeriCorps state service program supporting the mission of eight local conservation non-profits. AmeriCorps members help advance the mission of their individual host site while developing skills and experiences necessary for a career in conservation through hands-on training and service learning. Service opportunities include community engagement through environmental education and volunteer opportunities, to water quality monitoring and environmental restoration, trail maintenance, conservation easement monitoring and so much more. LRCC AmeriCorps are the driving force behind many of the conservation efforts of the New Hampshire Lakes Region and beyond.

LRCT's Conservation Land Stewards

LRCT’s Conservation Land Stewards are a part of the LRCC – AmeriCorps Program. Land Stewards are an integral part of LRCT’s conservation mission and work with LRCT from May through October. Members receive training in land conservation methods, conservation and recreational land management, and education and outreach, and will work on a variety of projects, including:

  • Maintaining LRCT’s 95+ miles of trails,
  • Removing terrestrial invasive plants,
  • Assisting and leading guided hikes and paddles,
  • Monitoring LRCT preserves and conservation easements,
  • Working on special property management projects, and
  • Organizing and conducting volunteer work days.

Housing is provided at the Mead Base Conservation Center, located in the northern part of the Lakes Region, at the foot of the White Mountains.

Graham Hovel

I recently graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a degree in Natural Resources Conservation. I am passionate about conserving natural landscapes and helping people connect with the outdoors. Ever since I was a kid I've gravitated towards the outdoors and trying to understand how it all works. I am still trying to figure that question out, but I get closer every day! In school I developed a strong interest in land management, and learned that I love to work with my hands out in the fresh air. I have been an outdoors camp counselor with Mass Audubon and a member of the Pawtuckaway State Park grounds crew, and am now looking to bring the skills from each together to benefit the Lakes Region! I have a very active lifestyle, and in my spare time I enjoy all forms of movement. I like to hike, bike, ski, flip, and juggle. I am also an avid Star Wars fan and enjoy reading in my down time. I am so excited to be joining the Lakes Region Conservation Trust for the 2026 season and can't wait to get to work!

Molly Prom

I graduated last year from Hope College with degrees in Environmental Science with a biology focus and environmental studies. While in college, I spent one semester studying climate change justice in San Francisco, Morocco, Nepal, and Ecuador and another semester interning on Capitol Hill. My love for the outdoors traces back to all the hiking my family did growing up, as well as the many summers I’ve spent farming, including most recently in western Massachusetts where I completed an organic farming apprenticeship. I’m looking forward to broadening my passion for sustainable land management to also include conservation work through the Lakes Region Conservation Trust! In my free time, I enjoy yoga, plant-based cooking, playing the piano, collaging, and learning new facts about the natural world.
