LRCT Reaches New Milestone: Accreditation Renewal!

March 22, 2023

The Lakes Region Conservation Trust is excited to announce that we have reached a new milestone with the recent renewal of LRCT’s accreditation by the Land Trust Accreditation Commission. Land trust accreditation is a program promoting the highest national standards for ensuring permanence in the conservation of land.

LRCT was initially accredited in 2017, indicating that the organization had demonstrated sound finances, ethical conduct, responsible governance, and lasting stewardship of the lands that we protect. Renewal occurs on a five-year cycle and focuses on the land trust’s activities over the accreditation term.

The Land Trust Accreditation Commission stated in its renewal letter to LRCT that “[a]ccreditation is a mark of distinction, recognizing land trusts that meet the national quality standards established by the land conservation community…. [LRCT] has made an extraordinary commitment to excellence, trust, and permanence in land conservation.” LRCT Board of Trustees Chair Rhys Bowen commented: “Renewal of accreditation is a sterling achievement, and it is a powerful endorsement of LRCT’s professionalism and excellence. Approval by the Commission is a tribute to the LRCT staff’s skill and integrity and their success in fulfilling LRCT’s mission.”

The rigorous accreditation process helps to strengthen LRCT, and LRCT’s strength helps to ensure that our special places will be protected forever, making the Lakes Region an even greater place for us and future generations.
