Guided Snowshoe Hike at the Red Hill Conservation Area

John Oliver, LRCT Property Adopter for the Red Hill Conservation Area will be leading a hike on Saturday, February 25th. Participants are welcome to join John in hiking along the Sheridan Woods Trail. Enjoy the opportunity to identify signs of wildlife in this habitat-rich environment and share some of the natural and human history of this 2,565 acre conservation area.

John Oliver’s connection to Red Hill and Moultonborough goes back many generations, to the time when his great-grandparents were settlers in the Ossipee Mountains on land now permanently conserved as part of LRCT’s Castle in the Clouds Conservation Area. John’s grandparents eventually settled in the valley on the east side of Red Hill, and John grew up exploring and learning from the land that now comprises the Red Hill Conservation Area.

Please bring plenty of water and snacks or a bag lunch, there will be a break along the way.  Dress in warm layers of clothing appropriate for the weather and wear appropriate trail footwear. If there is enough snow we will be snowshoeing, please bring your own pair of snowshoes. We strongly recommend bringing micro-spikes and poles; if snow is limited we will leave our snowshoes behind.

This moderate/strenuous hike will cover approximately 5 miles on varied terrain, including uphill and downhill stretches on Red Hill. Participants will meet at the Sheridan Woods trail head parking lot (directions below) at 9:30 am and will return at approximately 1:00 pm.

Participation for this hike is limited, to register please contact John Oliver at 520-0487.
