Guided Paddle on Lake Wicwas

Join us for a scenic guided paddle on Lake Wicwas in Meredith offered in partnership with the Lake Wicwas Association. Participants will tour the eastern shore and center of the lake, viewing a number of properties conserved by LRCT and other organizations.

Lake Wicwas covers 328 acres bordered by forested conservation lands, marshes and residences.  The irregular shape and many islands contribute to its beauty and popularity with canoes, kayaks and sail craft.

The lake and its shores provides a rich habitat for loons, deer, herons, moose, cormorants, bear, ducks, beaver, mink, muskrat, bobcat, bass, pickerel, perch, horn pout, and crappies.  During the paddle, participants will explore the shoreline of LRCT’s Roger W. Harris Natural Area and Roger W. Harris Natural Area Conservation Easement, totaling approximately 61 acres with 3,600 feet of pristine shoreline, as well as the recently conserved Emmons-Cohen property, Smith Island, and the Marion Family Trust Preserve totaling about 35 acres with nearly one mile of shoreline.  Finally, we will enjoy the view west across the lake to the 305-acre Hamlin Forest and other land conserved by the Town of Meredith.

The round trip distance of this paddle will be approximately 4 miles. The level of difficulty is moderate, but please keep in mind that weather conditions on that day may affect the difficulty.
